Calliope Sauvignon Blanc
Opens up on an inviting nose of fresh cut grass, box wood with hints of passion fruit and tomato leaf. The palate is dry and medium bodied with lively acidity. It develops a wide range of flavours from lime and grapefruit to ripe peach and guava.
The Wyse Family – founders of Burrowing Owl Estate Winery in Oliver BC – is proud to introduce a line up of wines under a new label: Calliope. Pronounced ka-LIE-oh-pee, this captivating name pays homage to a tiny hummingbird found in southern British Columbia which is Canada’s smallest bird. The word Calliope is of Greek origin meaning ‘beautiful voice’ and was chosen by the Wyse family in recognition of their interest in birds and music. Calliope is also the Greek Muse of Eloquence and Poetry.
Food Pairing Notes
It is also a good pairing to a homemade gazpacho with fresh herbs or a Portuguese salt cod salad with potatoes.
