Young & Wyse Merlot
A complex nose packed with a diverse range of red and blue fruits including damson plum, mulberry and blueberry along with pretty violet notes. The palate is medium in body with crisp refreshing acidity, fine-grained tannins and vibrant and intense flavours of cassis, cherry, raspberry, dark chocolate and roasted herbs with a long, lingering mineral finish.
Young & Wyse are pleased to present their limited collections of handcrafted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel and the Black Sheep Blend, a proprietary blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Our collection of whites include a Viognier, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and an Amber, a proprietary blend of Pinot Gris, Viongier and Gewurztraminer named after thier daughter. After 10 years of working at Burrowing Owl, the family winery, longtime winemaker Stephen Wyse and his partner Michelle Young decided to embark upon their dream of owning and running their own family winery.
The Y&W family has had the good fortune of working closely with a few dedicated growers like Ken & Jeremy, owners of the Harfman Vineyard to produce exceptional fruit. The vineyard is located on the East bench, overlooking beautiful Osoyoos Lake. The planting is on sloping terraces and consists primarily of sandy loam soil. The southwesterly exposure offers long days of sunlight hours. The cooling effect from the lake balances the heat from the day, which is optimal for grape and vine growth.
