Surprisingly excellent for the price, wow. This full-bodied Australian red wine is a blend of mostly Shiraz and a splash of Viognier from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. Aromas of blackberry jam lusciousness with some mint. Layers and layers and layers of pleasure. Eyes closed kinda wine. Some violets and cedar on this finish. Highly recommended. Loaded with fleshy ripe dark berries and vanilla spice from toasty oak aging. Good mouth-watering acidity on the palate leads to a clean finish.
Like many wines of the Northern Rhône, this includes a dash of the white Viognier variety to add floral and peachy notes to the big, dark fruit of Shiraz. Look for a rich, deep core of mulberry and blueberry with plenty of cracked black pepper, vanilla and oak spice.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair it with chicken thighs in a mushroom sauce, or pepper steaks.
