Road 13 The Fith Element
The 2010 Fifth Element has a beautiful and rich dark ruby color. The nose is lifted, savory and very complex, showing beautiful aromas of black olive tapenade, blackberry, blueberry, violet, garrigue and hazelnut. This wine is a great example that with careful blending BC can create wines of elegance, richness and complexity. The six varieties of the Fifth Element work together to deliver complex flavors of dark prune, black cassis, blackberries and black sage brush. The palate is balanced and smooth with plenty of gorgeous fine ripe tannins and fresh acidity. The 2010 Fifth Element blend offers structure and it is a joy of harmony with an intense lingering finish.

The grapes were picked at optimum maturity and were de-stemmed gently into small fermenters. The grapes were plunged 2-4 times a day during the on-skin fermentation and pressed near sugar dryness. The wine was aged in French oak for 15 months and in stainless steel barrels for a further 5 months prior to bottling
