The wineries in the Okanagan are very quickly becoming a trade mark for the area. The wines that we produce are showing incredibly well compared to some of the top wineries in the world, am impressive feat. I have been to many of these wineries, and I would recommend each and everyone in a heartbeat. But there are still so many out there I would love to visit.
Some of my favorite wineries thus far come from West Kelowna down Boucherie rd. The little family run wineries there produce some incredible wine. One of my best experiences at a winery was at Beaumont Organic Estate Winery, for anyone who is planning to tour that area, I greatly recommend you visit their Winemaker Alaxander the Grape, he guarantees a great visit and his wine is delicious and modestly priced. In that same area don't forget to stop at Mission Hill, the view and structures will take your breath away. And last but certainly not least, Kalala Organic Estate Winery is one you won't want to miss, their award winning Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay IceWine are one of my favorites in the valley.
This summer I plan on visiting Naramata Bench and Bottleneck Drive. There are so many phenomenal wines that I have tried from these areas, I have to visit the wineries! There are a few particular ones I am excited to visit, Hillside Estates, Black Widow, La Frenz and Laughing Stock. I have tried some of the wine these wineries produce and I am excited to see what other wonders they have to indulge in!
I am still very new to the world of wine, but I learn more and more each time I have the opportunity to meet with the genius wine makers and representatives of these great wineries. The boom of the Okanagan has truly only begun, and wineries will continue to sprout all over the valley as we grow and explore the diversity of wine production. A fact that I can live with.
