Lady Lavender

                Earlier this May I had planned a weekend of working in my backyard. You know, the regular spring cleanup of weeds and dead foliage. Of course with the hot weather we’re having there was no way I’d be out there without some refreshments! While planning some meals I thought about spiked lemonade, it’s light, tart, and sweet, the idea was quickly becoming my newest obsession! Spiked lemonade sounded good, but it needed something more to set it apart, lavender! A trip to the local health food store and 30th Street Liquor Store and I was set!

Here’s what you need:

  • Fine Mesh Strainer
  • A Sealable Glass Jar or Bottle (I used a 250ml mason jar)
  • 250ml Premium Grade Vodka
  • 1 ½ Tsp of Dried Lavender Flowers
  • 0-3 Tbls of Sugar (this depends on how sweet you’d like the vodka to be. I chose to use
  • 1 Tbls to keep the vodka mildly sweet)

Instructions:

  1. Place vodka, lavender, and sugar into the jar.
  2. Seal the jar and shake for thirty seconds to mix everything (the sugar will dissolve on its own).
  3. Set in the fridge to infuse for 3-4 days.
  4. Once the vodka has infused strain it with the mesh strainer and place into your desired vessel.

Have fun with it, you just created this unique spirit all on your own; you know best how you’d like to use it
