An intriguing gem from Lake Country B.C.!

Right in the middle of Lake Country British Columbia lies one of the most unique, and ever-changing wineries in the North Okanagan. Intrigue winery is located on Goldie Road which (25 minutes south of Vernon) is in the heart of Lake Country, between our three beautiful lakes!  The owners came together as partners out of a passion for wine (a winemaker, accountant, internet entrepreneur, and a business advisor). When naming the winery they wondered; “What is it about wine that captivates us, that keeps us coming back for more, and still interests us after all these years?” Thus, came the name Intrigue, which is perfect since every bottle they’ve made has either had a cult status, multiple awards, or a place in the locals hearts…no matter the vintage people keep coming back for more.

Owners / Winemaker:  Jillian and Roger Wong

Roger joined the BC wine industry in 1995 after many years of making wine at home. Tinhorn Creek provided Roger with his first taste of the industry while training him in all areas of the business. Pinot Reach helped solidify these skills, directing not only the wine making duties, but vineyard decisions as well. And now ten years with Gray Monk has allowed Roger to branch out from small lot winemaking while continuing his specialty of small lots and sparkling wines.  Roger has invaluable experience from the vineyard right to the glass.

Jillian’s diverse experiences in the finance, pharmaceutical, and now public domain, have helped Jillian pursue her interests in business consulting. Jillian's main role with Intrigue is as sales coordinator.

Owners /Controller:  Geri and Ross Davis

Geri's introduction to the wine industry came in 1998 when she joined the team of Cascadia Brands, the parent company for Calona Wines, Sandhill Wines, Granville Island Brewing, International Potters and Grady Wine Marketing.  After eight years with a diverse portfolio of wine, beer and spirits, Geri transitioned to the family estate winery of Gray Monk Cellars where she continues to work today as their company Controller.

Ross is Internet Entrepreneur by day and farmer by night.  Together Ross and Geri farm their 10.5 acres in beautiful Lake Country.

Here at 30th street liquor store we had a strong start to 2017 with a range of reds and whites from this local cult favourite. The girls of the store had a pleasant experience tasting what they have to offer this year, and of course brought in some to the store for our loyal customers to try! Here’s what we have to offer:

2016 Pinot Gris ~ 12% Alc. ~ $15.45 +T&D

Sweetness: 0

An early start to the growing season allowed the fruit to ripen with fantastic flavours of strawberry and Asian pear. The ripe Pinot Gris grapes are a blueish grey colour. Giving the wine a deep coral hue, or just a hint of pale straw. These grapes were grown in three vineyards, one in East Kelowna, the second on a West facing slope in Oyama, and the third in the Davis Vineyard located beside their wine shop. Elegant rhubarb, and honey aromas combine to create a full bodied wine balanced with a touch of acidity. Try this wine with garlic prawns, lemon Greek potatoes, or candied bacon!

2015 ❄Frosted Vines ❄ ~ 11% Alc. ~ $17.25 +T&D

Sweetness: 4

Frosted vines is made from Kerner, Riesling, and Ehrenfelser grapes which are left on the vine until after the first frost. The growing season ends when frost causes the leaves to fall from the vines, yet the flavors in the grape continue to intensify. As the berries raisin the sugars, acids and flavours become more concentrated. While this wine is delightful to sip on its own it will also compliment flavourful dishes such as charcuterie, with spicy sausage and sharp cheese.

2013 Merlot ~ 13.1% Alc. ~ $18.00 +T&D

The 2013 growing season was the warmest since the exceptional 1998 vintage. Warmer weather contributes to soft tannins and very ripe fruit flavours – we expect these to continue to develop in the bottle. This beautiful Merlot fruit was grown at the picturesque Trout Creek Vineyards in Summerland. Once pressed, the wine rested in oak barrels for 12 months. This wine has velvety aromas of cherries, vanilla, and chocolate.  A rich palate with warm spices leads to a smooth finish. Enjoy with beef tenderloin, a rack of lamb, brisket dark chocolate lava cake, and gorgonzola sausage.

2015 Social Red Blend ~ 14.7% ~ $17.00 +T&D

Sweetness: 0

This medium bodied red blend is a combination of 48% Cabernet Franc, 24% Merlot,  19% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Pinot Noir.  Social Red offers aromas of berries, vanilla, and hints of smoke. Deep, bold flavours of cassis, raspberry liqueur and spiced plums, as well as notes of cloves and nutmeg.  Smooth on the palate finishing with a pleasing warm spicy note. Will pair nicely with pastas, pizza, BBQ steak, and for a special treat, chocolate fondue!

2016 Social White Blend ~ 11.2% Alc. ~ $15.00 +T&D

Sweetness : 1

An everyday sipper- Every year they strive to make a tasty blend of their most popular varietals. This year Social is a blend of 68% Riesling. 27% Gewürztraminer, 2% Kerner and 2% Muscat Canelli; offering notes of lemon, apple and pear on the palate. Social is perfect for every occasion with or without food.

2015 ‘I Do’ Bubbly ~ 11.5% ~ $19.00 +T&D

 Sweetness: 1

‘I Do’ was created to be a part of your most important celebrations. This lightly sparkling wine offers rich aromas of peach, and crisp apples- the crisp acidity of Riesling provides the structure and three red varietals bring the fresh berry character and it’s pink hue.
